Cursor Review (2026)

An AI-native code editor built for deep, multi-file agentic work.

4.7/5 · Editorial rating by AI Tools Show · Verified 2026-07-26

Our verdict

The strongest single AI coding tool if you code all day and want deep agentic editing. Overkill if you just want autocomplete.

Cursor is a full editor rather than a plugin, and that is the point: it is built from the ground up around AI, so its multi-file editing, codebase-wide context and agent workflows are ahead of bolt-on assistants. Developers who spend hours a day in it consistently rate it the most capable single tool, which is how it grew so fast.

The trade-off is cost and predictability. Pro at $20 is the tier most people use, but Cursor's usage limits mean heavy users often move up to Pro+ ($60) or Ultra ($200). If your work is occasional, GitHub Copilot gives you most of the benefit for less; if AI coding is central to your day, Cursor is worth the premium.
